Last week, it seemed like every magazine at Hearst had their semi-annual beauty sale. Just imagine hundreds – or should I say thousands – of lipstick tubes, bottles of shampoo, and pots of anti-wrinkle cream dumped onto giant conference tables for editors to sort through and snatch up. I stood in line for at least an hour to have a 10-minute window of time to rush in a grab everything I could throw into my sack. For $1 per item, I bought plenty of hair masques for my roommates and friends, self-tanner for my cousin, and perfume for my grandmother.
However, I kept a few things for myself. So far, my favorite new beauty find is Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupte in Frozen Cherry. When I glanced at the color during the sale, I thought I was picking up a new red lipstick. Instead, it goes on sheer, like a gloss, and moisturizes like a balm. I'm not saying I would pay $30 for it at Bloomingdale's, but it's a great find for its $1 price tag.
