I started a new job this week, so I think it's the perfect time to start a new blog, as well. I tried to switch over during the holidays, but that was a bad idea for many obvious reasons. I'll most likely still update my Vox blog on occasion, but you can now follow me at "Little J" if you'd like to keep up with my NYC escapades and random runway musings. Plus, I'll start writing a little bit about my new job once I get settled in at the new office. So update your Google Readers, folks!

Golden Globes 2010
Watching the red-carpet reporting at the 2010 Golden Globes last night, I was mostly bored. I felt like I had seen many of the dresses before, and some normally well-dressed women looked way below par (Lauren Graham – WHY?) However, there were a few stand-out moments for me.
My number one dress pick has to be Emily Blunt. I couldn't find a picture that really does this dress justice, but it was absolutely gorgeous on camera.
But even with Emily Blunt's radiating beauty, I still couldn't take my eyes off January Jones' face. Her dress was fine, but I really thought her entire look – from the red lips to the ribbon hairband – was perfection.

And my last, most controversial pick: Chloe Sevigny. I know her dress wasn't a crowd-pleaser, but I thought she looked so elegant giving her acceptance speech, even with a ripped train.

Givenchy Pre-Fall 2010
I know one of my resolutions this year was to wear more colors and prints, but that was before I saw the Givenchy Pre-Fall 2010 collection.
I WANT IT ALL. Especially that white anorak in the second photo.
I'd also like to add that I haven't been a fan of shorts with tights until now. This collection is really blowing my mind.
Miike Snow
All week I've been listening to this Miike Snow album on repeat, and for some reason I keep coming back to this track. The chorus gets me every time. Give it a listen.
Dream Vacation, Dream Wardrobe
I don't know if it's the cold NYC weather or the recent correspondence with my surrogate family in France, but lately I've been thinking about traveling to someplace warm and...European. For my dream vacation to the Amalfi Coast, my dream wardrobe would include crisp, white cotton (and sometimes red) dresses from Bottega Veneta's Spring 2010 collection. They remind me of cobblestone sidewalks and sandy beaches...I'm starting my vacation fund now.
Paper-Bag Tote
Of course I'm still forever in love with Proenza Schouler's PS 1 bag this season, but their "paper bag" tote would look mighty fine carrying my new nook (yay!) and other necessities to work every day.

Ode to Geodes
I've always loved gems and jewelry, but I didn't know how amazed I was by geodes until I visited the Museum of Natural History a couple weeks ago. My poor boyfriend was so tired after hours of looking at dinosaur fossils and meteorites, but all I wanted to do was wander through the Hall of Minerals and Gems until closing. I even began regretting my decision to become a journalist and started toying with the idea of going back to school AGAIN for my PhD in geology. It won't happen though; my parents would kill me. So instead, I'll have to satisfy myself with looking at pictures of Kimberly McDonald's gorgeous geode and diamond jewelry collection. With price tags varying between $7,000 – $14,000, I don't think I'll be buying one anytime soon. Maybe if I get a geology gig one day...

QotD: The People of 2009
Who did you meet this year who had a big impact on your life? Did you reconnect with any old friends? Who was there for you through it all?
I have to give a shout out to my fave peeps in NYC. I met them all before 2009, but they still played a major part in my life throughout last year. We shared many many dinners, afternoons at the movies, and sad/happy stories.
For the majority of the year, this girl was the best part of every weekday (and some weekends). It was a sad day when she moved back to the Golden State.
And last but certainly not least, the best bf ever.
It turned out to be a really lovely year.
QotD: New Year's Resolution
What's your New Year's resolution for 2010?
First, I want to start dressing up for work again.
I used to wear heels around the office every day – except for Jeans Tuesdays, of course! – but since I moved to a new, more casual floor, I've started dragging myself into the building in jeans, cardigans, and messy buns three out of five days a week.
This resolution will involve getting up a little earlier in the morning and putting some thought into my outfits. Also, I need to start fixing my hair on a regular basis. When your hair and make-up look polished, the rest just falls into place.
I also want to start mixing colors and prints into my super dark wardrobe. Hopefully, it will keep away the winter blues and make my morning dressing rituals a little more fun.
